GP 51 Bro kyrka VII

Context and Discovery
Lindqvist only notes that “[I]n addition to the stones Nos II–VI, according to a note by [Fredrik Nordin], ‘the upper part of a picture stone, lying on a stone pile outside of the church’ was reported by E. Lundmark in 1913. Possibly, this is the same stone that is discussed under ‘Bro, Kirchspielʼ [= socken]” (1941/42 II, pp. 32, 43). Regarding this stone see the article GP 48 Bro socken.

In Lamm’s list, Bro kyrka VII is apparently understood to be identical with GP 48 Bro socken. Consequently, there is no independent entry for Bro kyrka VII in Lamm’s list, but only one for GP 48 Bro socken (no. 38 in Lamm’s list). Lamm has therefore recorded the new find from the church of 1955 as Bro kyrka 7 (Arabic numeral). The result is that in the present edition, due to the considerable uncertainty in the assignment of these stones or their problematic naming, they had to be listed under three different numbers and given the somewhat confusing designations GP 51 Bro kyrka VII (Roman numeral), GP 48 Bro socken, and GP 579 Bro kyrka 7 (Arabic numeral).
