Context and Discovery Found in 1953 during restoration work as spolia in the floor of the tower room. It was brought to Magasin Visborg but was given back in 2016 to be exhibited in Lärbro Church. HS
Measurements, Material and Condition This stele was re-used as spolia in the tower room of Lärbro Church which is why the surface is partly eroded smoothly from being walked on. Only the right side is less eroded. The top is broken off quite straight with the upper right corner damaged. The bottom is broken off with the two corners rounded. The left side is preserved while the right side is either broken off or was never worked. Many fossils are embedded in the light grey limestone slab. Little holes in the surface seem to have natural causes. The surface is worked but quite uneven compared to other stones. The decoration is better preserved on the right side and the left side is more eroded. Especially the boat is hard to see on the stone. The images are created by quite thick simple carvings. The new 3D models reveal the lower part of a circular motif above the horizontal interlace ornament. In combination with the oared vessel and the parallel borderlines, it is therefore possible, that it was an A-stone once and that the simple stairs ornament and the interlace ornaments were applied at a later time.
