Context and Discovery
The fragment was found in storage at Gotlands Museum without bearing an inventory number or further information.

Measurements, Material and Condition
The fragment is triangular, its side lengths are 31, 39 and approximately 50 cm. The piece is up to 14 cm thick. The shortest side of the triangle preserves the original lateral edge of the picture stone. The edge between the obverse and the narrow side is slightly rounded; the narrow side is not hewn entirely at right angles to the obverse, but slightly slanted towards the back of the monument. The decorated surface is essentially even, but heavily textured, rough and somewhat unsightly.

Description of Ornament and Images
Remains of a border can be surmised on the preserved edge. Immediately adjacent to it is a field in which small remnants of a faintly carved and somewhat weathered diamond pattern can be seen. At least six more-or-less complete diamonds and remnants of some others are visible. They certainly belonged to the sail of a ship depiction. At the bottom and top, the diamond field is disturbed by the diagonal broken edge; on the opposite side, it ends with a horizontal line. On the other side of this line, further unclear structures are visible, which could be parts of another image panel, a horizontal border or parts of the ship.

Interpretation of the Imagery
No interpretation

Type and Dating
The fragment belongs to a late-type picture stone, “Abschnitt” C–E according to Lindqvist’s typology. The simple stone carving technique speaks more for a type C/D stone, dating to the period between the 8th and 10th centuries.
