Context and Discovery 
The fragment was found in storage at Gotlands Museum without bearing an inventory number or further information.

Measurements, Material and Condition 
The stone represents approximately the upper half of a small picture stone of the early type. The root is missing, at the base the slab is broken off diagonally. The preserved height is 88 cm, the width of the picture stone 67 cm. The preserved part is largely undamaged. The stone surface is essentially flat but roughly textured, obviously unworked, and quite unsightly. The lateral edges of the stone are straight, the upper edge only slightly concave. Accordingly, the upper corners are only slightly protruding and hardly accentuated. The narrow sides are hewn straight at right angles to the obverse, and no chamfer is visible.

Description of Ornament and Images 
A double line runs along the edges, forming a simple border that frames the entire surface. Within this surface, however, no decoration can be detected.

Interpretation of the Imagery

Type and Dating 
The picture stone belongs to Lindqvist’s “Abschnitt” A, so it dates to the period between AD 400 and 600. Above ground, the stone was probably around 100 cm high, which is why it can be described as a dwarf stone. It appears to be related to the group of rectangular or nearly rectangular type A dwarf stones (Lindqvist 1941/42 I, p. 31).
