Context and Discovery
Lindqvist (1942, 139) writes that according to Gabriel Gustafson, the stele was found by a looter called Nygren in 1874 on the part of the cemetery in Vallstenarum that is south of Vallstena Church. It was found broken off and faced down not very deep in the ground but almost on the surface with no context or finds attached. However, some weapons were found close by, probably leftover from a looted grave. This part of the cemetery has undergone severe looting. HS

Measurements, Material and Condition
Surface very smooth and evenly worked, but partially weathered. A diagonal fracture goes from the upper right half to the middle/lower half on the left side. The upper edges at the top and the sides are broken off but the axe shaped form is still visible. The root is not preserved but it seems that the entire decoration on the stele is visible. The lower right corner is broken off. Very shallow chamfer. HS
